Mr. McKelvie recently recreated a website for his portfolio which includes still, moving and interactive art. follow the link below and enjoy.

KCRW to Throw Massive Dance Party @ Park Plaza Hotel
By Ryan - Tuesday March 03rd 2009
Let it be known that April 11, 2009 shall be your chance to see damn near every single music-spinning radio face the Santa Monica station has to offer at one place and one time, including Jason, Garth and the newly-added face of Henry Rollins:
On Saturday, April 11, KCRW (89.9FM and KCRW.com) will host RadioActive, a Spring dance party featuring the station’s own skilled selectors at The Legendary Park Plaza in Downtown Los Angeles, a beautiful space that is not normally open to the public. Tickets to RadioActive go on sale to members only on Thursday, March 12 and will be available to the public starting Tuesday, March 17.

Tickets are $35 in advance and will be available at KCRW.com/radioactive. All proceeds will go towards supporting music programming at the Santa Monica-based public radio station.

This is the first time KCRW has put on a dance event featuring station DJ’s even though many of them have headlined some of the biggest venues in the world independently — from the dance mecca of Ibiza and Central Park’s Summer Stage in New York to Coachella and the Winter Music Conference.

“All of our DJs are immersed in the live music scene and this is a chance to rally their considerable talents and fans for the station they all call home. We rarely come together in one place at one time and the staggeringly beautiful Park Plaza is the best place to do it,” said KCRW Music Director and host of Morning Becomes Eclectic Jason Bentley.

The venue will feature four unique, themed rooms:

Dub House Disco Ballroom - Jason Bentley, Raul Campos, Liza Richardson, Jason Eldredge

Neo-Soul Streetbeat Sound System - Garth Trinidad, Jeremy Sole, Anthony Valadez, Mathieu Schreyer, Aaron Byrd

World Folktronic Jazz Lounge - Henry Rollins, Anne Litt, Mario Cotto, Eric J. Lawrence, Jason Kramer

Grand Voodoo Salon - Tom Schnabel, Chris Douridas, Dan Wilcox, Gary Calamar, Michael Barnes

DETAILS:

WHAT: RadioActive: A Dance Party for KCRW
WHEN: Saturday, April 11, 2009
WHERE: The Legendary Park Plaza in Downtown LA– 607 South Park View Street
TIME: 9pm to 2am

Sublime Reunion or Cover Band?

apparently the two surviving memebers of the LBC's Sublime reunited with some dude named "Rome". Rome? really? ROME?

anyway.. there is some grainy ass footage you can watch and decide for yourself whether you would call this a reunion or not.
Photobucket
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brKbmscXRR0

For months rumors have circulated that Sublime -- the SoCal ska-punk band who found fame after the 1996 death of frontman Bradley Nowell -- would reunite with a new singer. Saturday night at a Nevada Mexican restaurant those rumors became fact when former drummer Bud Gaugh and bassist Eric Wilson were joined by a singer named Rome for a brief set of Sublime classics, including "Wrong" and "What I Got." The trio, who followed Del Mar (Gaugh's other band), also played a new original song.
Low-quality YouTube footage and Del Mar’s MySpace page confirm what occurred at Cantina Los Tres Hombres: "So, Del Mar played the gig at Cantina last night ... it was packed and amazing. What really fucking killed it was SUBLIME reuniting and playing with new singer, Rome. Sublime doesn't have any firm tour plans or anything YET, but we'll keep you posted on their progress."
But unlike the boys onstage, many fans aren't exactly excited about the "reunion." On a message board at PunkDisasters.com one fan wrote, "Sorry, but it's not Sublime without Brad Nowell." Another quipped, "That's like saying Nirvana reunited last night."

arcade fire you're a douche?

Photobucket

flaming lips vs. arcade fire?

interesting quote by Mr. Coyne, i kinda laughed... but i do love arcade fire...

I'm a fan of them on one level, but on another level I get really tired of their pompousness. We've played some shows with them and they really treat people like shit. Whenever I've been around them, I've found that they not only treated their crew like shit, they treated the audience like shit. They treated everybody in their vicinity like shit. I thought, "Who do they think they are?" I don't know why people put up with it. I wouldn't put up with it. I don't care if it's Arcade Fire or Brian Eno. If either of them walked into a room and treated people like shit I'd be like, "Fuck you, get outta here."

People treat Arcade Fire like they're the greatest thing ever and they get away with it. Those sort of opinions change my view of their music. They have good tunes, but they're pricks, so fuck 'em. Who does Arcade Fire think they are? I've been around groups. I've been around the Edge from U2 and he's the fucking sweetest guy ever. I was around Justin Timberlake when he was young and he was just a normal, nice, kind person. Anyone can be polite and kind and people who have the privilege and money and attention should understand that. If they don't, then fuck 'em.
