Did you say DANCE PARTY?!
if you would like to go and dance with me let me know!!!!!

KCRW to Throw Massive Dance Party @ Park Plaza Hotel
By Ryan - Tuesday March 03rd 2009
Let it be known that April 11, 2009 shall be your chance to see damn near every single music-spinning radio face the Santa Monica station has to offer at one place and one time, including Jason, Garth and the newly-added face of Henry Rollins:
On Saturday, April 11, KCRW (89.9FM and KCRW.com) will host RadioActive, a Spring dance party featuring the station’s own skilled selectors at The Legendary Park Plaza in Downtown Los Angeles, a beautiful space that is not normally open to the public. Tickets to RadioActive go on sale to members only on Thursday, March 12 and will be available to the public starting Tuesday, March 17.
Tickets are $35 in advance and will be available at KCRW.com/radioactive. All proceeds will go towards supporting music programming at the Santa Monica-based public radio station.
This is the first time KCRW has put on a dance event featuring station DJ’s even though many of them have headlined some of the biggest venues in the world independently — from the dance mecca of Ibiza and Central Park’s Summer Stage in New York to Coachella and the Winter Music Conference.
“All of our DJs are immersed in the live music scene and this is a chance to rally their considerable talents and fans for the station they all call home. We rarely come together in one place at one time and the staggeringly beautiful Park Plaza is the best place to do it,” said KCRW Music Director and host of Morning Becomes Eclectic Jason Bentley.
The venue will feature four unique, themed rooms:
Dub House Disco Ballroom - Jason Bentley, Raul Campos, Liza Richardson, Jason Eldredge
Neo-Soul Streetbeat Sound System - Garth Trinidad, Jeremy Sole, Anthony Valadez, Mathieu Schreyer, Aaron Byrd
World Folktronic Jazz Lounge - Henry Rollins, Anne Litt, Mario Cotto, Eric J. Lawrence, Jason Kramer
Grand Voodoo Salon - Tom Schnabel, Chris Douridas, Dan Wilcox, Gary Calamar, Michael Barnes
DETAILS:

Sublime Reunion or Cover Band?
apparently the two surviving memebers of the LBC's Sublime reunited with some dude named "Rome". Rome? really? ROME?
anyway.. there is some grainy ass footage you can watch and decide for yourself whether you would call this a reunion or not.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brKbmscXRR0
For months rumors have circulated that Sublime -- the SoCal ska-punk band who found fame after the 1996 death of frontman Bradley Nowell -- would reunite with a new singer. Saturday night at a Nevada Mexican restaurant those rumors became fact when former drummer Bud Gaugh and bassist Eric Wilson were joined by a singer named Rome for a brief set of Sublime classics, including "Wrong" and "What I Got." The trio, who followed Del Mar (Gaugh's other band), also played a new original song.
Low-quality YouTube footage and Del Mar’s MySpace page confirm what occurred at Cantina Los Tres Hombres: "So, Del Mar played the gig at Cantina last night ... it was packed and amazing. What really fucking killed it was SUBLIME reuniting and playing with new singer, Rome. Sublime doesn't have any firm tour plans or anything YET, but we'll keep you posted on their progress."
But unlike the boys onstage, many fans aren't exactly excited about the "reunion." On a message board at PunkDisasters.com one fan wrote, "Sorry, but it's not Sublime without Brad Nowell." Another quipped, "That's like saying Nirvana reunited last night."

arcade fire you're a douche?

flaming lips vs. arcade fire?
interesting quote by Mr. Coyne, i kinda laughed... but i do love arcade fire...
I'm a fan of them on one level, but on another level I get really tired of their pompousness. We've played some shows with them and they really treat people like shit. Whenever I've been around them, I've found that they not only treated their crew like shit, they treated the audience like shit. They treated everybody in their vicinity like shit. I thought, "Who do they think they are?" I don't know why people put up with it. I wouldn't put up with it. I don't care if it's Arcade Fire or Brian Eno. If either of them walked into a room and treated people like shit I'd be like, "Fuck you, get outta here."
People treat Arcade Fire like they're the greatest thing ever and they get away with it. Those sort of opinions change my view of their music. They have good tunes, but they're pricks, so fuck 'em. Who does Arcade Fire think they are? I've been around groups. I've been around the Edge from U2 and he's the fucking sweetest guy ever. I was around Justin Timberlake when he was young and he was just a normal, nice, kind person. Anyone can be polite and kind and people who have the privilege and money and attention should understand that. If they don't, then fuck 'em.

J DILLA!!!!!!
swweeeeeeeeeeeet. after i was turned on to JDilla it was love baby, love. now three years after his death they of course are releasing an Anthology.
i want it.
bad.
yaaaaaaa.

Last week marked the third anniversary of space-rap visionary J Dilla's death, and his influence over younger beatmakers like Kanye West and Black Milk probably looms larger now than it ever has. So it makes sense for Rapster Records, the company responsible for those compilations of sampled material from Daft Punk and Massive Attack records, to put out Dillanthology, Volume 1, a sort of Dilla 101 compilation. Dillanthology collects some of the production work that Dilla did for prominent clients and frequent collaborators like Erykah Badu and Busta Rhymes. But it's interesting to ask whether it really serves as an ideal introduction to the man's work.
A huge part of Dilla's peculiar brand of genius was his fractured intensity, the way he'd spend hours in the studio manipulating one old record-loop until it skipped and warped in just the way he wanted. And so most Dilla devotees would probably point to his 31-track Donuts beat tape as the ideal diving-in point for anyone interested in the man's deep legacy. The crew of writers on Brandon Soderberg's No Trivia blog currently paying tribute to the album on a track-by-track basis can attest to that. My own favorite might be the posthumously reissued Ruff Draft EP, where Dilla's likable, awkward vocals sort of charmingly set off the synthetic ripples of his tracks. Point is: Dilla wasn't exactly the seasoned industry-pro type, and it's a bit weird to see him honored with what basically amounts to a standard greatest-hits package.
Still and all, there are some amazing tracks on Dillanthology, which Rapster will release on March 31; Badu's "Didn't Cha Know" is a particular favorite. If nothing else, it'll be good for filling in some iTunes gaps, and maybe it'll inspire the folks at Rapster to dig a little deeper with any future volumes. But curious parties should know that a comp like this is merely the tip of a completely fascinating iceberg.
Here's the tracklist:
01 The Pharcyde: "Runnin'"
02 Slum Village: "Fall in Love"
03 Common: "The Light"
04 Erykah Badu: "Didn't Cha Know"
05 De La Soul: "Stakes Is High"
06 Busta Rhymes: "Show Me What You Got"
07 The Roots: "Dynamite"
08 A.G. [ft. Aloe Blacc]: "Hip Hop Quotable"
09 The Pharcyde: "Drop"
10 Amp Fiddler: "I Believe in You"
11 Steve Spacek: "Dollar"

f*** my life!!!

thank you again jazzy.
this website is awwwwesome. below is just one example of the many entries you will read and laugh your boo-tay off.
Today, I got an email from my professor with my grade for a paper. It said, "Solid writing, but you should have proofread your final draft more carefully." In a moment of annoyance, I typed in the reply box, "God should have proofread your FACE more carefully." My elbow hit the send button. FML

straight people who love gay bars.
don't get clipped! put this on your bike!
soooooooo cooooooooool.

i want one i want one!!!
Fed up with seeing friends getting clipped by cars, the designers at Altitude combined two things we love -- bikes and lasers -- to create an instant bike lane and make nighttime cycling a whole lot safer.
Their bike-mounted gadget, called LightLane, beams two bright red lines and the universal symbol for cyclist on the pavement, neatly delineating a bike lane to remind motorists to yield a little space. It should make everyone feel a little more comfort on the road.
"Clearly one of the biggest benefits of bicycle lanes is that there is an established common boundary that both drivers and riders respect and must stay within," designer Evan Gant told Wired.com. "However, this requires a great deal of resources and planning to implement, so we decided to focus on the fact that the bicycle lane establishes a safety buffer outside of the bicycle's footprint."
It should cost around $50, and we think it's the best idea for a laser since Andy Samberg put one on a cat.
The LightLane started life as an entry to a design competition aimed at promoting bicycle commuting. "Having witnessed several friends be hit by cars while in traffic, we felt the intimidation of sharing the road was one of the bigger barriers to commuting by bicycle," Gant said. He designed the gadget with Alex Tee.
They experimented with different ways of increasing the perceived size of bicycles, but decided they wouldn't work. "We quickly realized all of these would compromise the rider's safety by increasing the probability of accidental clipping," said Gant.
Such an approach also didn't consider the appeal of small size and maneuverability. After all, if bikes were big and bulky they'd be called pedicabs. Once they decided tinkering with the physical boundaries were out of the question, Gant and Tee considered virtual boundaries created by lasers. They decided it was a much better approach.
"Although it doesn't establish a clear and predictable path for a rider to follow, it does encourage a driver to provide the rider with a wider berth by capturing their attention in a different way," Gant said.
LightLane is only effective at night, of course, something Gant said underscores the need for proper bike lanes. "Permanent lanes are much more proactive and LightLane is more of a reactive solution to the problem," he said.
Gant and Tee are trying to determine the best color and orientation for the lasers. Once they tackle that question, they'll turn their attention to financing and building a prototype that is resistant to rust, easy to clean and difficult to steal.
If we're lucky, they'll figure out how to make it scorch the paint off any car parked in a bike lane.

vegan hot dog stand? i'm willing to try it.
now, don't get me wrong. i'm not vegetarian and i'm definitely NOT vegan. not that i find anything wrong with it. in fact i think veggies are amazing! but i can't do it. i eat veggie quite often and i do enjoy it, but damn i do love a cheeseburger sometimes.
with that out of the way.
i came across this awesome idea for us LA club/show hoppers.
again, i eat meat but i have NEVVVER eaten from one of those carts outside of the venues... i guess i have never been drunk enough or maybe i do hold some type of standards.
either way lets go hunt down the vegan hot dogs. i'm willing to give it a go.

Sad. More Sad. Depressing.
by now, if your living in the los angeles area you have heard of the family shooting/suicide in wilmington, CA.
what is more scary than reading the article on aol, are the comments left by the readers.
at the time of this posting 3337 people have responded.
some distraught with their own personal woes.
some blaming bush.
some blaming obama.
its really telling in these words how scared everyone is. and how desperate some may be.
nothing more to say than just scarrrrrrrry.

Finally some show news DoE & The Cave Singers @ The troub

oh, how i missed the troubadour. the place was packed to the brim. The Cave Singers, a seattle trio, opened the show and silenced the audience with their mesmerizing vocals. i was so happy to being seeing them as i had heard a live set many months ago on the wonderful show, morning becomes eclectic. The Cave Singers were above any expectation and i can not wait for them to come through again, if you have a chance to check out their live tunes i recommend!!!
and for Department of Eagles.

their live sound is just as haunting as their album presents. whenever i listen to them i imagine floating through some forrest, never knowing what is around the next corner.
i love to just sit back and take it all in, and watching them perform these delicate songs live was such a treat. they claim this will be the one and only tour. doubtful. again. highly recommended for your viewing and listening pleasure.

It is the start of a new year and that means we're slouching towards Southern California's biggest music festivals, starting with Coachella in the middle of April. And the internet is simply ablaze with line-up rumors. But this year, much like last, crazed fans have taken things a step further on the festival's message board, going as far as to contact bands directly for confirmation.
At the forefront of this year's rumor mill are scores of potential summer blockbuster acts, including Animal Collective, Basement Jaxx, the Black Keys, Blur, Britney Spears, Four Tet, Glasvegas, José González, Keane, Morrissey, N.A.S.A, Neil Young, Outkast, the Pretenders, the Prodigy, the Replacements, the Smiths, the Thermals and the White Stripes. And among the purportedly confirmed artists, who have been reached through Myspace or other means, are some pretty sizable LA locals like No Age, Peanut Butter Wolf, the Airborne Toxic Event and Flying Lotus.
So that got us thinking, who would you like to see at this year's Coachella and why?
Confirmed Artists: the Airborne Toxic Event, the Bug, Buraka Som Sistema, Crystal Castles, Drop The Lime, Fleet Foxes, Flying Lotus, Girl Talk, the Hold Steady, the Killers, No Age, Noah and the Whale, Late of the Pier, Los Campesinos!, Peanut Butter Wolf, the Presets, Sébastien Tellier,Themselves, Tinariwen
Confirmed DJs: DJ Gina Turner, DJ Hipnotic Starr, DJ Luis Segura, DJmorales, DJ Zegon
Rumored Artists: Animal Collective, Basement Jaxx, the Black Keys, Black Lips, Blur, Britney Spears, the Comedians of Comedy, Four Tet, the Gaslight Anthem, Glasvegas, Gui Boratto, Gus Black, Heartless Bastards, Hot Little Pony, José González, Keane, KONGCRETE, Mexican Institute of Sound, Monotonix, Morrissey, Mr. Lif, N.A.S.A., Neil Young, OutKast, Plump DJs, the Pretenders, the Prodigy, the Replacements, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Roni Size Reprazent, the Smiths, the Thermals, Turbonegro, We Are Scientists, White Lies, the White Stripes
